Privacy Policy — beFound SEO & AI Ready

beFound SEO & AI Ready ("the App") helps Shopify merchants categorise products and improve product data using AI. This policy explains what data the App processes, why, and your rights.

Data we collect

• Store information: your shop domain and the store owner's name and email address, provided by Shopify when you install the App.
• Product catalogue data: product titles, descriptions, images, tags, variants, Shopify Categories and Shopify Category Metafields — read from your store to generate suggestions, and written back only when you approve a change.
• App activity: your App settings, suggestion runs, the product-data snapshot used for each new suggestion, the generated suggestion, your reviewed or edited final value, save/export destination and outcome, an Activity log of every change the App writes to your store, and AI usage records (token counts) for billing, product-quality analytics and cost reporting. Image bytes and credentials are not stored in suggestion-history snapshots.
• Support messages: the name, email address and message you submit through the App's contact form.
• Catalogue export files: when you request an ERP or external-feed export, the App temporarily stores the generated CSV, its scope, progress and unmatched-row count so the job can continue after you leave the page.
• Acquisition and lifecycle measurement: advertising source/campaign parameters that reach the App, attribution confidence, installation and first-use milestones, retention activity, and credit-pack purchase value. Google advertising click identifiers are hashed before storage; missing campaign attribution is not inferred.

The App does not collect or store your customers' (shoppers') personal information. We process your merchant account information and your product catalogue only.

How we use AI

To generate Shopify Category, Shopify Category Metafield, title, description and optional AI-feed suggestions, relevant product data (including product images) is sent to an approved commercial AI API provider for processing. The App can use Anthropic or OpenAI depending on the configured deployment. API data is not used to train provider models under their commercial API data controls. No suggestion is written to your store without your approval (unless you explicitly enable the auto-apply setting, which applies only suggestions above your chosen confidence threshold).

Where your data lives

The App is hosted on Railway (United States) with data stored in a PostgreSQL database. Support emails are delivered via Resend. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify — we never see or store your payment details.

Advertising measurement

When a merchant first installs the App, we may send one installation-conversion event to OpenAI Ads to measure whether our advertising led to that installation. The event includes the installation time, the App URL, and SHA-256 hashes of the shop domain and, when available, the store owner's email address. The raw shop domain and raw email address are not sent to OpenAI in this conversion event. We do not include product catalogue data or shopper information. When credits are purchased, we may also send a deduplicated purchase event containing the purchase value and currency, pack contents, the same hashed merchant identifiers and an advertising reference supplied by OpenAI when available. Delivery and retry status is stored with the App data and erased with the rest of the shop's App data.

Retention and deletion

• Your data is retained while the App is installed.
• Generated catalogue export files expire after 24 hours. The stored CSV content is then deleted automatically.
• On uninstall, your access tokens are deleted immediately and your subscription ends (handled by Shopify).
• All remaining App data for your store is permanently erased when Shopify sends its data-erasure (shop/redact) request, which occurs 48 hours after uninstall.
• You may request earlier erasure at any time via the contact below.

Compliance

The App implements Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) and responds to data requests and erasures accordingly. Because we store no shopper personal data, customer data requests return no records.
